Could anyone recommend me a good sound card for 5.1 config. I just got a 5.1 sound system...

I noticed that all 5.1 sound cards have only 5 outputs on them... I thought there should be 6 on them but i really don't know. Can someone clarify this mess for me please...

Thanks...

Most 5.1 soundcards do indeed have 6 discreet outputs. There are typically three 1/8th" stereo jacks(front l/r, rear l/r, sub and center). I use the turtle beach santa cruz which is pretty good. I don't have it hooked up for 5.1 anymore but when I did it sounded good.

thanks man...
i get it now.... I thought all cards had the six outputs.

now, Does anyone know if this setup would be a problem?

- 3 1/8th" typical 5.1 outputs on my sound card
- Speaker 5.1 subsystem has 6 RCA inputs

Can this setup work?

I think i could get either:

- Cables with one RCA at one end and two on the other, and then use an adapter for the outputs on the card

- Cables with 1/18th" at one end and two RCA at the other...

help me out please...

I already got the speakers...

Thanks

option two. each 1/18" input has two channels, hence two RCA outputs at the other end. one channel, one speaker.

Yeah, you need 3 cables that go from 1/8th" stereo to 2 rca plugs. Something like this , but you can get them at kmart for half the price.
