ok, i just got my new mobo cpu setup. XP 2600+ M cpu and an ABIT Nf7-s v2.0 mobo. i'm using the new swiftech MCX462 pin-cushon and a vantex blowdryer/tonado fan(thank god i have a fan controller). the mobo doesn't recognize the cpu for some reason and defaulted running it at 600MHz, but i told it to run at 2.3GHz (200*11.5@1.6V) and its running just fine.

now, i have two questions.
1. with the fan turned all the way down, i'm dling at about 30C. when i run Prime 95 and turn the fan all the way up, the mobo starts beeping to me at around 33-34C. it starts off really slow but then it starts being more rapid. (It is not the temp warning beep. i set that low to test what it sounded like. these are all slower.) it seems like some of the beps are in patterns and there are two different pitches to the beeps.

Is there any place to find out what these beeps mean. I figured they were temp alert beeps but why are they going off at suck low temperatures. after 4 minutes of prime 95 i had only reached 37C.

2. I have two sticks of Wintec 512MB PC2700 Ram. I know this is a bottleneck for my CPU. Does anyone think it would be relatively safe to oerclock the FSB on these chips to 200MHz?

Thanks in advance for any help. I've used these boards for a few weeks now and you have all been really helpful. This board is where i decided to buy this cpu and mobo.

i cant remmeber what the highest vdimm on this board is but bump it to 3.0 if you can.

run it at 12X200 see if you can run it as that 1:1

put ur cpu core to 1.8 or so. 30c is really cool , as long as u keep it under 50c u should be fine

well this first problem is fixed. i need a new power supply. as soon as i unplugged my second harddrive things went fine.
still looking to OC the RAM hough. You said try uping the vdimm? i hadn't goten that far yet because i am first trying to see if 166 to 200 is too much of a jump. i don't want to break anything.

also, i'm about to try 2.4GHz. running too cool at 2.3GHz :D

3v is a bit much to start with... my memory gets less stable if i go past 2.8

same here. anything more than a notch above stock voltage my ram takes a dump. it overclocks really well at stock voltage though :)
