Hi all,
I have a very wierd video problem. I really don't know what to do, or what is causing it. I have a Intel P4, 512MB RAM with Windows XP Pro, and a Geforce 2 video card. Here is the problem, for some reason, at random times, my video will flicker, meaning the monitor will go blank, and then come right back. However, while watching video it is much worse. At first I can watch the video like normal, no problems. But then, all of a sudden the video will go blank, and the computer will apear to freaze (meaning the keyboard doen't work, etc.), but the audio will still be running as if everything were normal. There seems to be no way to get the video back on, other than a restart. And this happens for ANY video of any format, whether it be MPEG, XVID, DIVX, etc. And it also happens regardless of what player I use, WMP, VLC, etc. If I keep pressing random buttons on the keyboard, eventually, the computer will reboot, and when I log back into windows, I get a message saying there was a serious crash on your computer, and under the cause, it says nVidia Geforce 2 drivers. However, I just upgraded the drivers to the newest ones available from nvidia's site, and it is still exactly the same problem. And also, the drivers that were on there before, had been there for a very long time, without a single problem. So therefore I really don't think that the drivers are the problem. So the question is, what could it be? Is it possible that the card is going (gone) bad? I don't really have another video card around here to test. Is there a program I could get that could test the card so to speak. Like they have burn in tests for CPUs, memtest for RAM, etc. Is there one like that for the video card? Thanks for any help/suggestions you all may have.
