Finally decided to go for a SSD, but hearing controversial information of drives going bad, BSOD and data integrity) which ones of the following should i get?

Kingston SSDNow V100 SV100S2N/128GZ 2.5" 128GB SATA II (SSD) $219.99 $164.99 (AR)

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC (SSD) $214.99 $184.99 (AR)

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD3-2VTX120G 3.5" 120GB SATA II MLC (SSD) $209.99

OCZ Agility 2 OCZSSD2-2AGTE120G 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC (SSD) $204.99

OCZ Agility 2 OCZSSD3-2AGT120G 3.5" 120GB SATA II MLC (SSD) $214.99

Is there any significant difference between the Vertex2 and Agility2?

Only SF-based drive I'd buy is a Vertex 3. If those are your choices above, I'd rather buy an intel 320 or 510.

Skip OCZ, get an Intel drive. As you're looking at Vertex 2's, consider Intel G2 drives.

I suggest the same. And if it's a Vertex 3 I'd get a 240GB drive. I know it's expensive, but I think the pre-production drive Anandtech previewed doesn't have the usage problem that the Vertex 2 has.

If you are set on getting a Vertex 2 get the OCZSSD3-2VTX120G. Verify that it does not use 25nm NAND. Also look into the C300 and see if t's in your price envelope.

I'm sure the Vertex 3 and the NEW INTEL 510 series SSD are north of 300+ for a 128gb

I had finally made up my mind to get a SSD but it seems will have to pass again!

Are they no alternatives?

The 120 is way down on performance compared to it's 160GB big bro. Get the 160.

Intel 320 120GB is $235. That's $10 above your budget.

I could consider that BUT since the new 510 drives are out, shouldn't the prior models get a price drop? The price hasn't dropped below $200 for quite some time since their release.

I haven't followed the 25nm saga too closely, I know I paid my 240GB Vertex 2 400€ (usual price was 500€ at the time, so I was happy) in November, and then one month later the price dropped to 350€ so I wasn't that happy, but now I'm glad again. Apparently there is no way to know what you'll get when ordering, that's annoying, I wish they (and others, like WD) would stop doing that.

I would skip all Vertex2 out of the their nad change to 25nm and no way of knowing which you might end up with.

Crucial C300 seems like a good drive, very good positive user reviews on amazon/newegg on the 128gb model. Else the Intel X25m 120gb should be a proven ssd, or the new Intel 320 120gb. Another really good ssd, specially for sata II, is the Samsung 470 120gb, this would probably be my choice out of price atm since its more in line with your budget.

Thanks for the input. I think i will skip the VERTEX drives and go for the INTEL 320 or the Samsung 470.
Both look like great drives (from the reviews)

Have fun and good luck. Once you use a SSD you will never go back to a HDD.

I picked up two C300's for 199 each. Ended up selling one and just running a single 128gb C300. I am very impressed with this drive for the price. Feels faster than my Intel 80gb G1 RAID 0 drives and maxed out the windows experience index at 7.9. Like others I don't care for OCZ products. Stick with Intel or Crucial.

The new SAMSUNG has great reviews. I am warming up towards that!

Where did you a one for 199? Sale? Used maybe?

I think was active yesterday, EMCKFJE23 for 10% off on ssds, i think you can use it on the c300 or Samsung 470.

None of the above. Buy an Intel.

+1

Or go with Corsair, they're really good as well.

Skip OCZ, it's a shady company and the Vertex 2 drives have been proven time and time again to be faulty SSDs, they aren't worth it.

Had the 64GB OCZ in my sig filled up to 5GB left and ran that way for a couple months before realizing. Drive has been great. Have a four other Sandforce drives in duty (including some of the "microcenter" brand ones), and have had no problems. Well except that I don't like platter drives now.

what about the new VERTEX3? any good?

Vertex3 is the fastest ssd atm on sata III, i personally dont recommend it as OCZ did some shaddy thing with their vertex2, so idk how the Vertex3 is, no one does atm, it seems a good benchmark drive for none compressible data.
