I READ THE FAQ! Im just a total newb to wiring diagrams and LCDs.

I got this LCD from a friend. The specs that I know:
Sharp LM16X212
4x16 (Supposibly)
14 Pins for outside connection

Heres the visual portion:

Heres the official Sharp Spec Documents on PDF

So my question is, how the heck am I going to wire it up to make it work for my PC? Is this a Serial or Parrallel device? Im guessing Parrallel since its 14 pins. Thanks guys!

Or no responses is cool too.

Well I decided im going to wire it via Parrallel.

There is a red and a black wire coming off of the PCB, seperate from the 14 connectors, is this backlight? How many volts is the backlight and how will I power it?

Look at page 4 of the data sheet it shows where everything should be hooked up. Use this to wire it up.

As far as controlling it, you better hope it's compatible with the HD44780 controller otherwise you'll have to write your own software.

On page 5 if you look closely you can see where pins 15 and 16 are for the backlight.

BTW, it's a 16x2 lcd, or so it appears.
