help w/ 3dmark cpu test

I am getting what look like artifacts in the CPU tests in 3dmark06. The fort (or whatever it is) has streamers that look like sparks flying off of it, and the colors of the streamers are bright/solid (ie red, blue, yellow). Is this supposed to look like this? I can't imagine that the graphics card would affect the CPU tests, so i don't think that is the problem. I'll try to get some screenshots when i have access to my comp again (out of town).

my e6600 gets 3 fps once and at times runs at 2

I run the CPU test between 2-3 FPS......still looks like ass though
