Hello. I previously started getting a blue screen error saying "unmountable_boot_volume" that would not allow me to get into windows under anymode. I tried chkdsk /r under windows system recovery, but after 26% it stopped and said "unrecoverable data" or something like that. I also tried fixboot and still no luck. I tried recovering my data by attaching my HD to my other computer as a slave, but I would always get the error "error performing inpage operation" and I even tried spinrite recovery software to fix it (which also didnt work)...
long story short, I gave my HD to a recovery service and they emailed me the problem. They said it was an "unstable head disk assembly." They also quoted me for $1500 dollars! I obviously cannot afford that..so my question is, now that I know the problem..is there anyother way to fix it? I mean does anyone think there is a repair man that can fix the HD without recovering the data so taht I can just put it back in my computer to recover the data? If anyone does know of any good repair men, please let me know.
Thanks..any help is appreciated!
