Currently using a P6X58D-E motherboard. and two 1TB drives for storage which are getting full. I believe I only have 4 SATA ports, and planning on getting 3-4 3TB drives for a raid 5 array. What would be the best way to transfer the data? Also, drives will be encrypted with diskcryptor... anything I need to be wary of? Thanks!

That motherboard shows as having six Intel 3Gb/s SATA ports, plus 2 Marvel 6Gb/s ports.

Using mirroring with motherboard raid is OK, but I'd think carefully before using raid5 - if it's Windows, you'd be better off either getting a proper raid card (such as a M1015), using a Snapshot raid utility, such as Snapraid (free) or Flexraid (commercial), or just upgrading to Windows 8 and using it's new Storage Spaces feature!

Motherboard raid5 is a disaster-in-waiting TBH - I certainly wouldn't trust anything important to it - have a search around for threads/stories about when it's all gone wrong!!!
