help : to change 8800gt to 9800gt by bios?

many said its the same. just different bios and core/mem clock upgrade.

they use the same stock speeds and there is no reason to flash your card.

Yep, well but we should discuss other options than getting into flashing vid card bios. That would be the LAST option - if ever.

no reason to flash the card.What if it bricks when you flash it? Then you will be buying a 9800gt

i did flash cheaper vga card and its easy just like flashing the mainboard bios.

and flashing vga is safer than mainboard.
if its fail, you need just the old pci vga card to reflash the pcie16x...so no risk.
(if i am wrong plz correct me)

heck i remeber when i had to flash my bfg 6800gtx because they had different bios' and i couldnt sli them.

flashing vid-cards is no big deal at all, but i have never read about flashing 8800gt to 9800gt.

i use google to find step by step instructions for everything. try that.


edit: nice, looks like it's a no-problem operation. not really much benefit aside from pairing an 8800 with a 9800.

edit 2: here's a guide for the process. my internet is flakey so i haven't been able to really look through it.
