help, this cpu is underclocked by 50%

so i got an old pc out of my garage that im gonna sell to a friend, i stuck the only cpu i had in there that was socket 478, the motherboard is a gigabtye ga-8ihxp rev 3.0

anyway the cpu is:

but the motherboard only lets it run at 1.3ghz wtf?? the multiplier looks locked and i dont know how to unlock it, and my fsb is set to 100 only, the most the bios goes up to is 150 and when i go over 130 i think it starts locking up, i just went through bios beep code hell for the past hour reseating everything finally it was the agp card that had to reseat...anyway this is my cpuz output file

how can i set the FSB to 400 like it should be, or 200 at least i think will result in 2.6ghz

I think the CPU and board don't match.
My guess is that your CPU is an 800 MHz FSB model, so 200 MHz base frequency (bus is quad-pumped), and multiplier of 13 -> 13*200 = 2600 MHz.

Your board however seems to be a 400 MHz FSB board, so you get 100*13 = 1300 MHz.
The only ways to get it on 2.6 GHz are either 200 MHz base frequency (which apparently your board won't do), or a 26x multiplier (which probably won't work either, because the CPU will be locked at 13x).

So I think this combination is not going to work.
You'd need this CPU, which has a 400 MHz FSB:

Or a motherboard that supports 800 MHz FSB ofcourse.

Scali is correct.
The 2.6C is a 800Mhz FSB chip. That board is limited to 533Mhz FSB. They dont match.

that blows...i guess ill just keep raising the fsb till i find its max and add little vcore while im at it...

so im guessing cant pencil unlock this cpu somehow? i know the mutliplier option is in my bios but its locked. how can i get around that

I don't recall any procedure for unlocking Northwoods. I'm quite sure it can't be done with a pencil though.
That only worked on some Athlons that had some jumpers cut with a laser.
I believe Intel burns some jumpers inside the CPU by running a high current through them. Which would be pretty close to irreversible.

No need to push Vcore while you're not reaching even its default frequency.

I'd say you try 133 ; that's the best you can hope.The board is really really old ( 2001 ) with the 850E chipset that uses RDRAM.You can't use HT either.

You could try to find a used 865PE mobo , should find some at $20.

Not on the CPU, but if he can increase the voltage on his chipset, that might increase his chances of getting it stable at 150 FSB.
