Not sure if this is the right place, but it is software related.

My uncle's computer is displaying weird text on some websites. It looks like code to me.
I don't know what is causing it.
Happens on Speedtest.net and battle.net at least (haven't confirmed the latter).

Happens in Chrome, Firefox, Explorer

Updated java and flash, no change.

Running virus scan now

Any ideas?

Highly unusual that it happens in all 3 browsers, but it seems that JavaScript is disabled (or something malicious removed the <script> tags that surround the code), hence it displaying as text. Virus scan would be my first suggestion, along with trying a portable version of Chrome/Firefox.

If it happens in portable browsers, could be DNS highjacking (considering I found the same code here: http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...sp.recovery&num=1&hl=en&gl=us&strip=0&vwsrc=1). For that, type
Code:
ipconfig /all
in an elevated command prompt and see what it says for DNS servers.

Thanks for the pointers!
It was indeed some program hijacking his browser to throw ads where it doesn't belong.
Now I just have to go through the arduous task of doing all the necessary scans to pick up any remnants...
