help setting up the network

Currently I am running a D-link di-514 wireless router. And for my computer that is only across the room I have a D-link dwl122 wireless usb adapter. The connection usually isnt that great for gaming. Now I need to upgrade it and I dont know a lot about setting up networks and stuff. Would this work a lot better?
