help setting up second core on 295?

So I've been using only the GPU client for the past week or so (the CPU client was giving me a hard time). I tried getting it setup to use both but it's never worked correctly.

AFAIK, you only need to disable SLi and run a second instance of the software. When I do that, it tells me that it can't retrieve the work or it starts crunching and gives an error (and resets the other clients work back to zero as a result). I've tried running the same program twice (from same folder) and tried running it from 2 separate folders, both neither work.

I've read that you need a dummy plug for the second video card on an SLi setup, but what about the 295? it's the coop card so it only has one PCB

am I missing anything else?

If you are running vista or win7 you need a dummy plug

Also you dont need to disable SLI any longer.

They must be run in separate folders.
 
not unless it you stick some resistors in it

What monitor do you have?
 
it's the viewsonic vx2265wm

So if I leave it in sli, it should work in it's current config? I'll try to get it going in a few mins
 
I think it will work in SLI mode without a dummy plug. I've never actually tried myself though, so I can't say for certain. Anyway, remember to have a separate folder for each client and use the -gpu 0 and -gpu 1 flags for the clients (and configure them with different machineIDs through the client configuration).
 
do you just use that as a launch flag? (the -gpu 0/1 switch)

Check the sticky in this forum for how to set up multiple GPU clients. It goes through everything step by step. You might want to delete your existing folders and start with a clean install.

And yes, you should enable SLI in the NVIDIA control panel, and you won't need a dummy plug.
 
If you could, let us know if you have issues folding with SLi enabled. Whenever I started doing that, one or both of my GPUs would downclock to "low power" 3D clocks and half my PPD from it. When I disable SLi, it never happens. Just a heads up in case you experience the same. That's with one of my monitors plugged into both cards too.
 
a lot of us are having mixed reactions with 295's
Mine would not fold the second core under Vista/7 no matter what, even with more expensive HDMI dummies, others worked just fine tho

As for SLI, I never had a problem with it, but others have

these 295s are nice but they are all over the place
