We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Will have a Dell Zino (if it ever ships) with a Windows remote + IR receiver hooked up, needs to be completely remote controlled.

Media stored on WHS w/ password, files are arranged with quite a few folder hierarchies. I'm aware WHS requires passworded logon and one way to bypass this is to set a user as guest and do preferences from there, but I have a roommate and my files aren't for him to leech. Solution?

File types = mainly h264 mkvs, subtitles are required.

What software, front end, and setup should I be going for?

The Zino coming with Windows 7 Home Premium or better? IF it is you don't need anything else.

Did they vastly improve WMC? Cuz' I remember Vista WMC being the clunkiest crap I've ever dealt with, especially when it came to specifying folders (and filetypes were not supported).

I know in Vista/7 you can select specific devices to share media to (and restrict it to only your Zino if that's what you want), but not sure on WHS. If the Zino ships with W7 and you have a remote, you should be able to just plug it in and go using MC.
