Help Set Up Sata

Alright i just built my computer that's in my siggy; however, i don't know how to set up the sata. I placed the connector into the sata-II connector on the motherboard for higher transfer rate..when i go into the bios i see that it detects it. When i boot from my windows xp cd and i try to install windows.. it says no hard drives are present.. this is my first time dealing with all this.. do have to go into the motherboard cd and extract the sata drivers to a floppy and do it that way?
 
You need the drivers on floppy. When windows asks you to hit f6 to loads drivers, hit f6, follow directions from there.
 
i see.. i knew i had to do something like that.. i was just unsure.. thanks! All i need now is an external floppy for the laptop im using at the moment..

One thing you may want to do is to slipstream an XP-install CD with SATA drivers. Otherwise, you may need a floppy if you are installing onto a SATA drive, as your boot drive. Haven't actually done it myself, but I have seen people who have had trouble pulling it off, especially if you don't plan before hand (e.g. no floppy, or no slip-streamed CD).

If you don't want to slipstream, then floppy will be simpler.

im using nlite so my windows xp pro is ready to install on my new system with a sata hdd. i cant find the driver for it tho :(

You should open a new thread for this, not post it in someone elses. When you DO open the new thread, include more information, such as motherboard make and model as well.
