So for my new build (dont look at my old sig :p) I've been going back and forth for weeks trying to find the right card for me. Current system specs, corsair g800 watt ps, amd 8150 cpu, 8 gb corsair ddr3, and an ASUS M5A88-V EVO mobo.

Ive been looking at crossfire configurations mostly. From what I see the 7950 seems like an amazing card as well but right now i have my heart set on two of these 7870's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161404

So does anyone currently have these cards in a crossfire setup? Anyone here have major issues with these cards? Im upgrading from a xfx 5770 will i see a huge performance increase? (i assume yes) Should i wait for next gen cards? Budget is no more than 440 bucks total. Sorry for the rough post I have mostly lurked here off and on for past 9 or 10 years. Thanks for any help guys
 
Yes, you will see a large performance increase. My rule is always go single card when possible, due to heat, driver's, and noise. Also, you will have better luck selling one high end card than two mid end cards.

As far as waiting, with a budget of only $440, i would just buy a current 7950, and then wait and see. It is probable that the 8xxx will only net 20% more perf, but will cost a pretty penny for early adopters.

Lastly, if the new 8xxx cards come out, you can always add a second 7950 (going against my rule), but you will have better performance than an 8790 or what ever the top end card is.

Personally, just go for a 7970/680. They are around the 400 mark depending where you look.

I am running a 7970 and love it. Specs in sig.
Also, what are you doing with your cards. Gaming, multimonitors, etc
 
Yes 7970/680 is great, if u want something under or around $300 I would recommend a 7950, best bang for the buck in my opinion.
I've a Sapphire 7950 Dual X model and I love it.
 
Single 7970 with a good cooler and a nice overclock would get my vote. Should easily fit in your budget and be about 73x more powerful than your 5770. Like going from a 4 cylinder civic to a corvette....
 
I just got a HIS 7950 IceQ2 Boost Clock for $320 on Newegg. So far I am in love with this card. O.C'd to 1150 clock and 1450vram. Temps never go past 63C on Furmark, and that's only with 50% fan speed.
