Help request on how to reset Windows 7 PC

I want to wipe out the personal data for a family member before we recycle the computer. What's the easiest way to do this?

Remove the hard drive and then send it on the way.

Drill into hard drive to destroy platters, OR open it and smash them.

yup, destroy the drive. i like taking them to the parking lot and tossing them really high. then you get a nice little maraca.

DBAN or Boot and Nuke, and then drill holes in the drive.
