The fan on my old geforce 4 TI is dying so I bought a new one to put on it. The problem is I can't get the old one off. It has the 2 plastic push pins and I have gotten them out, but the heatsink still won't budge. I think EVGA used thermal adhesive instead of regular paste. How can I get the heatsink off of the GPU? Thanks for your help.

Two ways I can think of are freeze the video card in the freezer and take a piece of fishing line and dislodge the HSF from the GPU. (put the card in a plastic zip lock bag)

The other way is take a hair dryer and put it on the HSF for a while then take the fishing line and remove it as mentioned.

I had a PNY card (Ti4400) like that, I think they used some type of thermal adhesive rather than normal thermal paste.

thanks for the suggestions guys. I will try the blow dryer meathod with the fishing line. I hope this works!

you an also carefully use a creditcard and a screwdriver... ie put the plastic card between the hs and the vidcard as to not crush componets on car when using flat head screwdriver.
then carefully twist screw driver and work all the way around hs

blow driyer at 4 inches, works perfectly , i have done it
