help purchasing a mobo for someone

i got the system listed in my sig actually. Kinda regret not going with an amd system though, as they have so many awesome cheap dual core options to choose from. And athlon 64 3400+ is my dad's computer. Truthfully though was thinking of ditching this computer and spending a bit more money on something like a amd 5200+ and giving this computer to nephew. But would probably end up spending like $40-$60 more tho and would probably be stuck with the crappier graphics option, as 8600 gt would only work in an agp slot. So think i'll just wait a bit more, and aim for a quad core setup.
 
hmm this sizzlemeister guy still hasn't responded. Think i'm just going to go with the foxconn board. First i was planning on saving money on the mobo and buying a cheap pci-e card, but now thinking i can get by with integrated graphics and use money in the future for a real good pci-e card when it is needed.
 
okay, was really interested in getting the foxconn board and i mean it's still a very nice board but, a lot of people keep saying it's not a gamers board and doesn't really support cpu's above 95watts. I don't care about the cpu thing that much though, but don't understand about it not being a gamers board, something about the pci-e slot.

Anyways here's some other mobos i was checking out on ebay, going to check them out a bit and than see how the foxconn measures up to the best ones. But if you guys have any ideas about these mobos being good choices, let me know thanks:

i already sent one guy money for the 3800+ chip and i don't want a processor like that involved in my next setup. Besides if anything i'd focus on overclocking the cpu i got now, rather than upgrading. I got to 3ghz before but ran into trouble with the voltages, think i had to raise it more or something but i let auto voltage handle it, and it kept crashing ;\
 
in one of the reviews for the gigabyte tho, it said the manual said a 500watt psu is recommended, i only have like a 380 or a 400watt one, something like that. So a bit hesitant now about getting the gigabyte one until i can read some more reviews. Hmmmm, don't think it'll be a problem though as i ran through some of the parts i'm getting with the newegg power calculator and mostly came out to 300 some watts.
 
The Foxconn motherboard won't require any less power than the Gigabyte board will. And a 500W PSU is definitely not necessary to run it.

this is the second time I've heard something like this and was like "WTF"...? the other time was an ASUS motherboard...

hey reporting back after getting all the parts. Okay everything is setup and i see the bios screen and other screens. One problem though. Well maybe 2.

One is i'm using this ide hd and an ide cdrom. Anyways it won't load up with the hd into windows. Okay not that big of a deal, maybe the os install is corrupted on that drive or messed up, remember someone had trouble with running windows on it last time. But than i tried to run the windows xp installation setup and it didn't work either. Both times i try to load it from the hd or the windows boot cd, it just automatically reboots. For the hd it gets past the verifying something stage, and reboots before it gets to the xp logo. The boot from cd gets to the press any key thing but after i do it or w/e it also reboots. What should i do?

2nd thing, not really a problem, just curious. When i loaded up the computer it said 3400+ something for the processor, i thought i was getting a 3800+.

Update: managed to run Ultimate boot cd and also ran a memtest. And than for some reason was able to run windows xp setup like 50% of the time, sometimes it just randomly reboots though but have the setup going now, hopefully it works
