ok so i get all my parts in today to build my new computer.. this is my first time building a computer and my dad also helped me (its his first time too but hes had somewhat expierance). I put everything in the correct way (i think). i turn my computer on and every thing turns on but my monitor stays idle. my video card is plugged in the correct way i think.. i have it hooked up to the psu. i have a PNY geforce 6800GT. My BIOS wont come up but then agian my monitor is idle. so i dont know what is going on. ne one have ne ideas? its not my video card is it?

my specs are..
P4 2.8c with Artic Silver 5
Diabolic Minotaur Case 400w PSU 120mm fan
Matsonic MS9377C+ mobo
512x2 DDR PC3200 Infinian memory
PNY Geforce 6800 GT
80g Western Digital HDD
Audigy ZS
i also have a neon light and a pci fan

Any beeps? If so how many?

If VC was not plugged into the PS, it would let you know. ( I did this when I built mine a month ago, forgot to plug the power into the GT and it made a sound that scared the shit outta me).

Do you hear any beeping when you power it on, if so whats the beeping pattern?

Any activity in the PC at all (i.e. fans spinning)? If not, make sure the power cord is plugged all the way in the power supply. If you have a switch on the back of the supply, make sure it is on (that Over Frequency Fluctuation mode will bite you in the ass every time :D ). Reseat the ATX power connector (make sure you are unplugged when you do this). Verify that the ATX switch is in the right position on the motherboard header.

If you have activity in the PC, power down and unplug. Reseat memory and videocard. Make sure the monitor is on.

Edit: Forget the first paragraph... you posted as I was thinking/typing.

Thats the first step. Second make sure the VC has its own Power plug. (not shared with anything else)

I bet it's your memory. Either it's not compatible with your mobo, it's installed wrong, or it's just plain bad.

i reset the CMOS. and now it is making a beep non stop. just one long one

opps forgot to plug power into my VC let me try agian.

it starteD!!!! give me a sec

Hummm, that sounds like a VC issue. Or the VC is plain bad. Do you have another video card you could try in that pc?

Damn I wish you would say :edit

FFS.

well this is not much help, as that has (from what I can tell) a AMI bios...

http://www.webopedia.com/quick_ref/BIOSBeepCodes.asp

Continuous beeping: A problem with the memory or video.

I think we already knew this.

Just to be sure did you use the proper motherboard stand offs, and make sure you did not put any in the case where there is not a hole - screw in the motherboard. (it will short the MB if you put one in that touches the MB anywehere it doesn't have a standoff)

edit: NM/ looks like you got it going.

fuck, I remember when I did that, where were you then.....that was an adventure.

hehe JK. (but I did do that once , good advice )

could be a bad CPU probably.. I remember i killed a CPU because it overheated and i got no signal on my monitor.. hapend 2x already.

I've the same problem as one of the guy described above. But i've no beep when I turned on the computer. I also tried to remove the memory to see if there's any beep, which to test the motherboard. But it's still no beep  I used the following to test this new motherboard ms9377C+

i first tried 300W psu with ddr 512mb, geforce 2T, 2.4ghz and its fan and of course I have keyboard, mouse, hard drive, cd rom, floppy drive hooked up.

I then tried 400W psu with the same above, but there's still no beep.

Do you think the motherboard problem? or what else should i try to test? thank u much in advance.

Make sure the 4 pin +12v cpu power connector is plugged in. That needs to be plugged in on all p4 & amd 64 systems. Sounds like a problem I had in the past on a similar mobo my friend couldn't figure out and brought to me.
