HELP, please

Just built the rig in my sig.

When i boot up i get a message that says my graphics card is not being powered properly.
As a result it is being automatically downclocked.

I'm new to PCIE cards that need extra power.
How do I hook up the PCIE modular power cable provided with my 520HX?

There is both a 6 pin and an 8 pin connection on the vid card. I curently have the power cabled plugged into the 8 pin connection.
when i had it connected to the 6 pin connection the fan on the card went super fast and there was no output to my monitor.

Any help would be really helpful.

, you didn't plug in both 6pin connectors? You need to plug both of them into the top section of your PSU, then plug them both into your card.

Ok, you take your two PCI-E 6 pin connectors and put on into the 6 pin slot and the other into the 8 pin slot. There will be two free pins, but they aren't needed.

Just curious why they dont ship an 8 pin and 6 pin adapter cable in the box

Because a 3x2 PCI-E cable supples 75w and a 3x2 converted to a 4x2 supplies 75w, while a true 4x2 supplies 150w. So there is no advantage in using a converted cable other then to unlock Overdrive.

Although it will be interesting to see if a 2900XT/Pro on a PCI 2.0 board with two 3x2 PCI-e power cables will allow for Overdrive to be unlocked since the increase of supplied power through the PCI-E slot.
