I bought a new computer recently and need to get data from a ide and sata hd but the boot drive on the old computer is corrupt. what is the easiest and cheapest way to get the info off the hd. I will only need to do this once.
 
Can you attach the hard drives to the new computer?

Or are you saying that the hard drives with the data you want to get are corrupt?
 
I managed to save my data, the c: drive is corrupted but I need stuff off the other 2 hard drives but I do not feel like opening up my new computer and messing it up.
 
Just thinking off the top of my head... if you have an external drive you could copy the files off. It may be a little cumbersome though.

You could create an Ubuntu Live CD, then boot your old computer using the Live CD. Once in Ubuntu, you can go into the Disk Utility and mount the two drives. Then plug in your external drive. The you should be able to go into the file manager and move the files you want off of the hard drives and onto the external... then from the external to your new computer.

Maybe somebody has a better idea, but that's just one possibility.
 
I think I will use the ubuntu method just set up my old pc put it on the wired network transfer the files from the 2 good drives to my new pc.
