6800gt @ stock

10x200 stock, np
10x240, @ 1.5 vcore, temps get to 111-112 in prime 95
10x260 @1.625 vcore, temps get to 118-119 in prime 95
stock amd cooler

How hot is too hot for these procs? I just passed a few rounds of P95 at 2600, would like to use that speed for games, is 120F too hot? 130F ? Or am I okay?

ok, so it *is* something to be concerned with.... and these temps are open case with fan blowing in. As of now, its at 10x240, 1.5vcore, and I'll look at a better cooler (xp-90, or maybe the xp-120 if it fits this motherboard-then I can use a quieter 120mm fan.), and wait on the 1.6 vcore settings till the better cooler comes.

What BIOS are you using? Earlier Neo Platinum BIOSes had inaccurate sensor readings as they were all over the place.

Use BIOS 1.8 to get a more accurate reading.
 
Thats not hot, im getting up to 140 f (60oC) with Prime95 on a 3200 winchester @ 2500 2.65v, now thats hot but its stable so i dont care, think i got a bad cpu though cant take it any higher than 2500. :confused:

using bios 1.8 :D

yes, the first bios (1.5) had ext. low cpu temps. I use speedfan, ntune, and everest, to monitor temps.

I was at BB and picked up an Adaptec copper cooler- cheesy, sure, but a 80mm 1" fan vs the 70mm 1/2" fan on stock AMD cooler. I installed it without a badly needed lapping, and it still dropped load temps almost 10F. I may try lapping it, and adding a Panaflo fan. Those tri-blades are sekseh :D

Or just get a real cooler.

I haven't read a cooler review in ages....
