Help please!!!!! Onboard sound configuration.

Please read the FAQ so people can help you with your question. What issues are you having with your onboard sound. Do you need to enable it... goto BIOS enable it...
 
okay. its enabled in BIOS and still no sound. it says when i try using medai player etc. that my hardware isnt present.
 
What motherboard are you using?
You may need to go to the manufacturers website and download the drives for it.
Also what speakers are you using? (although this sounds like a software issue)
And provide any more information...
 
my interenet is going irresistably slow like 20 Kb/s unlike 300 kb/s so it will take a while.
 
If you go into your device manager what does it say for the soundcard there? Also what IRQ is it using.. is it sharing it with anything else?
 
click the resource tab within the device properties for the soundcard. Compare that with a few other devices.
 
Go to Device Manager.
Expand Sound, video and game controllers
Right click Realtek AC'97 Audio
Click the Resources tab.

Check this IRQ with other devices' IRQs

Also what cards do you have in your PCI slots...
 
Did you actually check, because it should show more than just your AGP card...it'll show everything....monitor drivers, keyboards, mouses, printers, their IRQ's, everything..are you sure you're looking???
 
mmm my guess is that the drivers didn't get installed right. Try uninstalling them both in normal and safe modes and reinstalling them.
