I just installed a new Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P MB (to replace an ASUS P5B) and something weird is happening.
I carefully (I think) assembled it and all 3 case fans except the CPU fan spin up when I hit the power switch. I checked to be sure that the 4 pin connector was in and tried again. No go. I then connected an extra heat sink fan to the same CPU fan slot - no go. But this is strange: when I turn the power off (via a power strip) the CPU fan spins up as if it got a brief surge of power. This was the case with both the mounted CPU fan and the external test unit. How can this be? There is only one way to connect the CPU fan power in an ATX board . . .
I then disconnected all the HDs and the optical drive just to see - no change. Help - I need to make this work soon! Thanks.
