Help pick the right MBP SSD

I have a 13 inch mid-2010 MBP upgraded to 8 GB RAM, primarily used for programming and digital media design, and I'd like to get a ~250GB SSD that could be used in the latest MBP lineup, hopefully the next refresh, and of course my current MBP (I want to transfer the SSD to my next laptop). As I understand it, SATA III will be the latest/fastest and still backwards compatible with my current machine, but the other specs are a little more confusing. I've seen an OCZ desktop model fail recently, so I'm partial to picking a different manufacturer. Three that I've considered so far:

Crucial 256GB m4 SSD 2.5" SATA III CT256M4SSD2 $380

Samsung 830 - Series MZ-7PC256N/AM 256 GB 2.5 Inch SATA III MLC Internal SSD Laptop Kit with Norton Ghost 15 $407 (but "temporarily out of stock")

Intel 510 Series 250 GB SATA Version 3 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive $570

or suggest a different one? (Please use Amazon unless another site will ship for free in USA)

Of the three above, are the price differences justified in performance improvments? I understand my current MBP won't take full advantage of these but I plan on upgrading within the next 6 months, so as long as it is compatible with my current one that is good enough.

the 830 isnt that great from what i've read, i'd go with the m4 the 510 is no x25
 
I'd get the M4, its a fast, reliable drive, at a good price. It shouldn't have any problems on the 2010 MBP (Sata II).
 
Samsung 470 256gb - routinely found on eBay for right around $1/gig. No need to buy sata III when you've got no support for it.
 
fwiw i have a 128GB c300 in my 15inch mbpro any decent SSD had at a good price will yield a noticable improvement.
 
I have had great luck with the Intel 320 series 300 & 600GB drives. I do have a 250GB 510 in a 2011 13" MBP with no issues. The 6Gbps sata was flaky in the 15" and 17" Early 2011 models. Over 50 Intel SSD's for me with ZERO failures. Stick with the Intel and you will not be disappointed.
 
I second the Samsung 470 Series. Currently if you buy the 13" model with the SSD upgrade you either get the Toshiba one (complaints about this one) or the Samsung 470 which seem to be solid and the better drive (versus the Toshiba.)
 
I'm kinda in the same situation with my 2009 mbp 13". I've been debating upgrading to 8g ram (max) and a ssd. Did you notice a significant performance increase?

Source? I haven't seen a benchmark wherein the M4 was run at Sata II against a 470. In fact, according to this:

470 stays right with the C300 in SATA II. I imagine M4 performance in SATA II is similar. At some point, you're running up against limitations of the interface, rather than the drive. I would agree that M4 is faster in SATA III, but OP doesn't have SATA III.

Academic at this point anyway, since OP purchased an M4. That said, my experience has been that Macs are a little tougher re SSD compatibility, which is why I recommended the 470.
