I'm getting this error sometimes on bootup. Now, I know what you are going to say...

"Just boot with the windows XP cd, and using the recovery console, restore that file."

Well, I tried that, and now it will only boot into Windows about 50% of the time. The other half of the time, I get the pci.sys is missing or corrupt error.

Any ideas. I'm in the process of googling some more for answers, but I thought I would post here to see you anyone has any quick suggestions.

Hopefully, and new install of windows isn't in my near future :)

Maybe the overclock and tight memory timings are corrupting system files, try running your box at stock speed for a week and see if it happens again.

I thought about that, but I've been running my computer at these specs for probably 6-9 months now. The memory isn't running out of spec. I will probably try cutting back on the speed and timings.
 
Oh... I forgot to mention. The problem started happening after I had a program hang twice. The program was pinnacle instant copy, and it was encoding a DVD both times it hung.
 
definetly corruption from overclocking. i did this from a friends computer and got the exact same error. lowere the overclock down a bit or even to stock for a while, even if it *was* stable. :rolleyes:
 
I found the problem.

One of the clips on the northbridge fan on my ic7-g came off, and the HSF wans't cooling the NB at all.

After I fixed that, everything is back to stable again.
