help overclocking x800 XT PE

ok....I've OC'd my card to 570/600 stable. But anything beyond that freezes up 3dmark. My temps are fine. 52c @ full load. How can I get more OC out of it? AGP voltage is as high as it will go already. Any ideas? w/o soldering stuff....I would ruin the card if I tried that.

Your overclock is very good! dont mess with a good thing. Are you stable at those speeds? Able to run through 3dmarks and games with no artifacting? If so leave it alone, if not reduce the load put on the gpu. By the way what voltage did you pump the card up to?

Call me crazy, but I'm sitting at 5983 or something like that in 3dmark05 and I just really want to crack the 6000 mark.
 
What processor are you running? I'm at lower clockspeeds and broke 6k
I have an Athlon 64 3200+ WC at 2.35ghz
X800 XT @ 540/560

Perhaps CPU is holding your card back?
 
Most instructions I found for doing the voltmod said don't go above 1.45, perhaps 1.5 on watercooling. Your overclock is as high as your going to get it. If you want to break 6,000 I would suggest formatting your hardrive and run 3dmarks with a minimum amount of programs installed. In my opinion, your voltage is way to high. I don't care what your temps are, your going to wind up with a burnt card. My best so far is 6,124.
 
I think hes talking about voltage from the agp on the motherboard? 1.65v on his actual card and he would be posting with a different graphics card in his computer I'd imagine :)

Cranking up AGP volts on your motherboard will have little effect unless the motherboard is not throwing enough at the AGP slot.

Perhaps I'm wrong and you are running your actual card at 1.65v, in that case, reread post above :)

Yea, your probably right. I voltmodded my card to 1.5 and my card would stop responding after a few minutes of play.

yeah I was referring to the mobo voltage...How do I increase the actual voltage to the card? That's new to me...


and I don't doubt my cpu p4 3.0@3.3 is holding me back some.
 
Honestly, I think it is. I'll repost in 5 hrs today, I'm getting better ram for my proc so I can take my overclock to 2.5 ghz and repost score :)

I would recommend getting a multimeter as per the instructions. There pritty cheap, $20 bucks at Home Depot for a digital. You should be able to get some extra Megahertz, pushing you past the 6,000 barrier. If you try it, please post back with the results. Edit: for some reason the link won't load correctly. A64. My XT PE at stock speeds(CPU/GPU) scored 5930 in 3dmark05. At 2.7ghz, I scored 6115 with stock clocks on my okd XT PE. With a little OC(560/615) I got over 6300.
