Help overclocking with Intel D865GBF

You might be able to use something like Clockgen or SetFSB, but don't get your hopes up. There's no official way to overclock with that motherboard.

Agreed. That's pretty much the original poster's only hope to overclock. Even then it may turn out to be more trouble than it's worth.
 
It's also an 865G board from what I can tell from the model number, so it probably won't overclock worth a crap even if you can get one of those programs to work.

Although they do have an application called Intel Desktop Control Center, but on the 865 series, it only works on the D865PERL - not on your board. The BIOS options are sparse and you're not going to get a reasonable overclock of any sort from those limited Intel settings. You're also up against an AGP-based system with no graphics cards beyond an NVidia 7950 and SDRAM. Yeah - try to overclock that.

I'm not sure what you're after, but you could get a P4 3.2Ghz (if you can find one - and get it for free, not the premium they're selling for now). Other than that, you should put this ancient beast out to pasture.

I'm still running that generation of 865 boards. You've got no hope. Let it die.

LOL thanks for the comments guys, i acually got this computer for free and was trying new stuff to older hardware. I see people over clock pentium 4s on HWbot to 8Ghz but i have noticed that they are 775 models. Check this out!

Yeah, the Cedar Mill chips are monster overclockers. The overclocking world record was actually set on one of them. There's a big difference between one of those and an old S478 P4 though. They aren't even really the same kind of CPU.
