At around 267 fsb prime 95 starts giving errors, but when I try to bump up the voltage the computer won't boot, and I have to reset the bios. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

If I change the voltage from anything to anything the computer refuses to boot. It doesn't seem to matter what clock\voltage it's at. Is there some setting or do I need to update bios or what?

I have an opteron 165 in an evga matx sli mobo. Memory is set to 133 so it doesn't limit anything.

That's a tough question for people who don't have the board to answer, but one thing you might want to do is check the HTLink multiplier.

You could always have a bad board. :(

i dont know much about the board and its crudentials but if you have a good opty stepping i think its your board

Even a bad stepping would let you set the voltage to 1.35 though right? I mean, that's stock. My board won't boot if I take it off "automatic".

First off make sure your htt is 3x. I have the same processor, you can run it up to 290 on stock voltage, so that’s not your problem. I’m almost 100% sure its your mobo. I had a msi board and it would not let me OC past 240 on any cpu, just upgraded to an asus a8n5x and its rock solid, avg oc up to 300fsb on my opty 165. If all of this doesn’t help, it may be the opty, highly doubt it but not all of them are guaranteed to oc to insane rates :)

Plenty of people got my mobo up over 260mhz. I think I saw one who got it to 330. Why would a mobo not let you set anything but "auto" vcore? I mean...even a chip that can't OC 5mhz should run with the voltage set to it's default value. Maybe it could be a bios issue?
