i just gotta dfi lanparty ultra-d, and im having trouble gettin a good oc on it....theres soo many options i dunno wut to change...
this is wut im running

3000+ venice
stock amd cooler
corsairxms cas 2
x800xl pci-e 256mb

i got the chip oc'd from 1.8 to 2096mhz (almost 2.1ghz) this is @ 230fsb, anything over 230 i cant load windows...i dont think im facing a heat issue (cpu is @42-underload, case @42) the only changing in the ram settigns i made was to change the cas to 2 (it was defaulting to 3)...im a newb to dfi boards so any help would be appreciated...if im missing any settings info lemme know and ill get it....thanks

o yea the overall timings on the ram currently are 2-3-3-8 1T
o yea again im using the 3/10 bios
 
currently i have the divider set @ 180 mhz...but if i lower it to 166 and not change anything else, i cant pass post, plus wut voltage do i need to incrase, the ldt, cpu or ram voltage?
 
eclipse i jsut read thru ur guide i musta missed it before...ill follow it on wednesday and hopefully i can get to 250(hell anythign over 230 would be fine for me)
 
up the voltage on the cpu to 1.5+ if you havent already. not all venice's are oc'ers

max HTT=338mhz
max CPU=2730mhz
max ram= 2-3-3-6 210mhz
2-3-3-7 210mhz
2-3-3-10 210mhz
2.5-3-3-10 211mhz (man this ram is crappy!!!!!@#!@#!@)

can u please help me wit what my final settings should be? thanks a ton
 
okay i tried to figure out the formula on my own and i think i got it....
i set the HTT to 300
the multi to 3x
the ram to 2:3
put the cpu multi @ 9x
cpu vid startup voltage is 1.5
ram @ 2.6 volts

assuming i did my math correctly i should be able to run using that right? wrong
cant load windows
lowered htt to 275, booted into windows, started prime, BAM reboot
lowered to 270 same thing
265 same thing
so i said screw it and went back to stock for now...wut am i doign wrong that i cant use these numbers to get oc'd?

I could've sworn I posted here last night telling you to go 300x9,etc,etc...
Anyways, bump the vdimm to 2.7-2.75. I have that same corsair ram in another box and its good to 240-245 @ 2-3-3-6 1t, it just needs a lil more juice. They'll run just fine @ 275 24/7 folding,gaming,whatever. Hopefully that'll fix your problem.

i was msgin eclipse and he helped me...all i needed was a bios update!!!

so now im running @ 2.7ghz on air with a max temp of 48C

What bios are you running? 711?

Also I couldn't see your link. What was your boards maximum HTT? I had the DFI NF3 Ultra-D with the 711 bios and I only got to 255. My 3200+ venice is only getting to 220.
 
im now using the latest bios from dfi's site....(actual date i cant remember) the max i was able to get it to was 338, the max setting is 459 i believe
 
Hmm I wonder why I can't get past 255. I'm running WinXP 64bit but I don't think that is it. I did follow the tutorial by eclipse

Test 2: HT Multi at 3x, AGP at 66, chipset voltage 1.65
Max HTT frequency 288

Test 3: HT Multi at 3x, AGP at 67, chipset voltage 1.65
Max HTT frequency 304

Test 4: HT Multi at 3x, AGP at 67, chipset voltage 1.75
Max HTT frequency 322

Test 5: HT Multi at 3x, AGP at 68, chipset voltage 1.65
Max HTT frequency 329

Test 6: HT Multi at 3x, AGP at 68, chipset voltage 1.75
Max HTT frequency 327


I thought it was interesting that after running the AGP speed at 68 it ran a higher frequency without the additional voltage.

Ahh my overclocking isn't going well.

My CPU doesn't seem to want to go over 239 at +.2v

My Ram won't seem to get over 215 even with +.2v

I can get into windows at 250x10 but I get rounding errors in Prime 95

Temps are still around 42C load and my default cpu voltage is around 1.3v

How are you not able to get the 329htt like you did in test 5? With an 8x cpu multi, and a 133 ram divider will still get you a nice oc (2630mhz)
 
I got it to 2414 (8x300) +.3v
Ram at 2:3
47C CPU 43C case

at 8x310 for 2480 +.3v it got into windows but didn't pass Prime 95
I'm going to see how much I can safely up the voltage though. At +.3v MBM5 is report 1.41v at the cpu.

Edit: it seems stable at 8x310 2496mhz +.4v (1.55v-1.60v) @ 50C cpu 44C case

Not sure but from what I've seen people have had better results with 2x512 then 2x1gb sticks. Quality of ram matters too of course. Corsair XMS vs Crucial Value ram.
