well i currently have a 250gig 7200rpm hd that came with my gateway.... im wanting to add a 74gig (or 76gig, cant remember) wd raptor, and i was wondering if it is possible to transfer os's between them...... or should i have my os on the 250gig hd? any advice would be nice, thanks
 
Sure, just use Western Digital's DataLifeGuard tools to clone your old drive with the OS to the new drive. That's IF you have less than 74GB on it to fit the new Raptor. And a quick check, your system does have SATA ports right? And either way, if your current drive is PATA you'll want to make sure the SATA ports are enabled in the BIOS and that any drivers if needed are installed for it before you install the Raptor.
 
yes, im pretty sure it does, the orange ones, about 2 or 3 stacked closely together, half an inch or so long, and pretty small

my current drive uses the big daisy chain cable
