How bad is this card, because it is either free or $15 depending if they honor the rebate.

I'm building a SFF HTPC for Christmas, and I'm very close to maxing out my budget already. Since this is an add-on card I can wait to buy it whenever.

I will be building the computer outlined in post #5 in the following thread. Basically it will be an AMD X2 4850E with a 780G motherboard.

I am a complete tv capture card newb, and I don't even know the real capabilities of a HTPC, this is just a fun project to mess around with, and a portable PC to take around to class sometimes. (Computer Engineering, I spent a lot of time in PC labs)

Things I am interested in doing:
Recording tv (HD? I have a 720P tv and a 480P projector)
viewing more than one channel at once?
an easy interface to view tv from.
Would everything be easier with xp, xp64, or vista? (I can get any of those)

TIA

edit- Would that remote only be able to be used while running a certain program that comes with the TV card, or can I use it all the time?

Vista Home Premium and Media Center

Does it matter? Most tuners come with crappy, cheap, flimsy remotes that are better in the trash then in your hand.

Anyways, not all of them support VMC.
