I was thinking about upgrading the power in my PC, i cant do it now due to low funds but it was a idea for the future when the time comes.

I dont know much about them, so i was wondering if i can get some help..

One is will it over watt my Mobo and fry it?

and will it fit in my PC?

heres what i had in mind,

http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermaltake-...R-pr-2333.html

my PC specs are here.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...name=c00191699

the power box thats in my PC now was a bestek Model: ATX 250-12Z REV D

I really do want to slowly convert the PC i have now into a Gaming one, i also know someday later i will have to upgrade the mobo and CPU however that to i need help with, like what would fit and this and that. but right now, one thing at a time =/ hope someone can share some info

Well one link works,

I hear that newer 3D cards need more power to run, and since my gaming PC is a few years old well i think that explanes it.. But also i want to upgrade it so in the future its done.

Anyways all i really need to know is if theres anything i need to know, will it harm my mobo and what not =/

save your money man. I don't think that power supply you listed would run any of the new cards (it only has 18A on the 12V rail, most cards these days recommend upwards of 30A). Also, the power supply you listed comes with an extra heatsink and stuff for the cpu, which you likely don't need, so you are just spending more money. Just start saving money and then buy it all at once. If you wait awhile, instead of buying pieces here and there, you'll be able to get better stuff for less money. Also, what are your specs right now, that link you gave doesn't work.
To be honest, I just don't see any point in buying a new power supply if you are just going to put it in your current computer. If your current computer runs just fine, that seems pretty pointless.

Heh, its just by luck that
Code:
http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermaltake-...R-pr-2333.html
takes you to
Code:
http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermaltake-410w-Polo-12-silent-plus-heatsink-and-fan-W0031R-pr-2333.html
When I first clicked on it, I read the "heatsink and fan" portion so I assumed the link was bad... and when I double checked it, it actually was bad, but jabtech still loaded the right page, hehe. So... my bad.

Anyhow, with that PSU, yes, you could damage your whole system, since its not on the recommended list. Check the guide in the PSU subforum. Read reviews at jonnyguru.com. Use http://psu.thetruck.net to figure out how much power you need. And choose a good quality, reliable brand for your needs. Since we don't know what your needs are, we cant really recommend one. However, the XClio 450W would be a much better choice over the Thermaltake Polo12.

Thanks, you would not happen to know anyone on here that happens to have a stick of PC2700 512 MB ram or a Decent AGP video card that can play oblivion or prey or something would you? =p that i DO need lol
