First thing I would like to say is, I've read all the manuals I can, and had given up....and now am ready to try for a second wind, but not without your help!
I now understand how the HTT works, and know what voltage things can run at etc...but let me explain what happened to me first.
I first attempted OCing w/o upping any voltages....which this processor has ZERO room for...that discouraged me..then I started upping voltages (1.55 and 1.6 for core) and got some better OC. I got some overclocks that the comp ran fine at, but it seemed slower somehow. I tweeked here and there, and at one point I must have pissed something off, and the multiplier to my CPU dropped to x5! I'm still a bit freaked out by that, because it wasn't set to that, it was set to auto....I did a 'reset to failsafe' in the bios and that fixed it somehow....
I want to try again, but one thing I have to say is 2.8v into the RAM seems a bit much...I have Kingston Value RAM @ 3-3-3-8 DDR400....not exactly 'hardcore'. Also, I had a pretty shady powersupply that I upgraded to what's now in my sig. I only going to run on the stock HSF, but I want to get the most out of my processor. Should I try again by slowly bumping the HTT with say, 1.55 on the core and 2.8 on the memory until I get problems, or try a memory/CPU divider? I don't plan on getting a new HSF or Memory, and I don't want to fry the core of my CPU or memory....just looking for a 'rule of thumb'...read alot of manuals and 'how-to's but some first hand knowledge would help alot. Thanks in advance guys
/end noobiness
