Help! old setup needs hd transfer

I just recently had my computer crash and am moving my hd over to my new computer so ican retrieve data from it. Only 1 problem, some files are under my "mydocuments" on the username i logged in as. Is there a way to bypass the password or anything so i can get my files i need out of my "mydocs"

officially no, if it was easy, it wouldn't make windows a more secure operating system for networks. MS may contain some util kits that will make it easier.
 
You should be able to "take ownership" of that folder to get the files out.

 
so the hd is actually in my new computer but not as the primary hd.. as the primary it will crash and burn... so... any way from there?
 
Boot Knoppix, plug in a flash drive, navigate to your my documents folder under the proper username on that hdd, then pull the files off of it to your flash drive. I've done once for a friend when he forgot his passworld and needed his document (code) for a CIS project.. heh.
 
Keep the drive that came in your new computer originally, and put the drive from the old machine in as a secondary. Then it'll show up as the F: drive (or something). Then you can take ownership, copy the files over, etc.
