help ocing my 2600 cpu

what are the settings I have to change in bios to make my 3.4ghz 2600 cpu run at 4.2ghz?

I have a asrock p67 pro3 and a 2600 cpu.
 
Every chip is different, as well as how the board compensates for vdroop.

I've got a 2500k on a P67A-UD4 board with water cooling. I set the bios to 1.28 volts, with the setting of line load 6 (basically, a pre-programmed compensation for power usage) cpu-z shows an idel of 1.296 volts and it boosts up to 1.356 volts under load. I think for sandy bridge 1.35 volts is fine for everyday with water.... although some would probably suggest lower volts would be better. That takes my chip up to 4.5 GHz, no problems.

My testing method is to set the speed/volts in bios, fire up CPU-Z, real-temp, and intel burn test, then run 40 standard linpacks, and if it passes run 10-20 of the highest memory setting. Intel burn test showed me crashes better than any other tool because I seemed to crash during the speed/idle transitions and the intel tool seemed to mimic that.
 
Also, before you get headed down this road, you do have a 2600K chip, right?

This is CRUCIAL. If you have a normal i7 2600, your overclock will be limited to no higher than 3.9 GHz!
 
Its not really a hard thing to do... I use on my 2600 blck 100 x 42 turbo multiplier. The voltage i use auto voltage with offset - 0.075 this set the voltage on 1.205v with p95 and intel burn test "very high" preset... It work extremely fine for me... Load temps with games stay on max 52C on the hottest core but i remember that the CPU will only run 4.2ghz on single core load. When full load on all cores it will down to 3.9ghz due to turbo boost bins... You can reach 4.3ghz on single core and 4.0ghz on all cores putting your bclk on 103mhz this will also affect pci lanes and memory so be sure you have quality RAMs also you will need good cooling with OC the non K 2600... My 2600 under intel burn test very high reach the low 60'sC (60C-64C) on a 30C room temp... Thats with a h100i on performance profile..
