Just setup my new system: Core2 6320, Biostar TForce965, OCZ 2x1GB PC6400 (5-5-5-12). Tryed some OC'ing and it was rock solid until I got to around 295fsb Then it locked up in about 2 hours on prime95. I am using stock cooling but temps never got about 50C (more in the low-mid 40's) on the torture test. Without a load the temps hover between 26-29C. Do you think the memory is limiting me with the timings? I was only messing with the fsb didnt touch any other settings. Thanks

Depends on what memory mulitplier it was set to, on a 1:1 memory divider the ram runs at 2x the FSB which in your case would have been less than 600MHz way under the memory rated 800MHz.

First thing I would do is look up you memory voltage range and set Vdimm or whatever it is called on your board to the mid range of recommended values. i.e if it said 1.8-2.0 I would set it to 1.9V .

Second thing I would do is increase Vcore one step/setting/tic up from stock/default.

So need some more info, if you memory mulitplier/divider was set to 3 you were running memory at around 900MHz and the timings might have been too tight.

So I've gotten up to a 310fsb, I set the Memory voltage to the spec'd 2.1 (d'oh). And adjusted the divider so that the RAM is only running at 387(has some headroom). Timings were set to 5-5-5-12. Upped the Vcore to 1.360. Should I just fiddle with the fsb to see how high I can go? or are there some other settings to adjust.

310mhz is very low, and strange.... Ive taken my E6300 which is the same processor, but without the 4mb cache, and I dont hit my first snag untill anything above 490x7=3.43ghz.

Im venturing to say that it may be the chipset on your Biostar... If you are going to overclock and make it reliable, stable, etc... I would always go with a big dog like eVGA, Gigabyte DS3, Asus, etc... I had a biostar momentarily, and could not overclock it worth poop... once I switched to the Gigabyte DS3 v3.3, didnt have a SINGLE issue.

Bare in mind thats just because is posts, or boots into windows, doesnt mean that it will be stable. Use quality parts to support your overclocking of the E6320, and you will never be happier.
