my rig is x2 4400 s939 stock cooling,my mob is a ga-k8n51gmf-9, antec true power 2.0 550 wat power sup,4x 512 samsung ddr 3200, radeon 1900xt video. for case fans i have a 120 mm fan in front(inside case) blowing, a 120 mm fan in rear sucking, a side fan sucking. i know my mob has no voltage options( and i wouldnt want to change any, too scared to fry my system)id just love 200 mhz to bring er up to a 4800. can this be done? pls anyone respond with details (all changes ie:hht speed, ?,what is a pci lock, ive heard u need to set that....?ram down to 166?..etc
thanx pls much

you really should read some more before you proceed with ocing...
do not let the htt go over 2000 ie..225fsb change htt to 800 or less...
pci lock keeps the pci bus locked at the set bus speed.....
ram duviders may need to be set acording to what your ram will handle...ie.. 2:1,1:1etc......
good luck

Yes, you need to lock the PCI and PCIe busses else you risk corrupting your windows install. These locks, and the methods that they're implimented and named, differ on each board. On mine I have it set to "PCIe clock Async" and my PCI clock to 33.3mhz. IF you can choose any frequency on these busses, set the PCIe clock to 100mhz, and the PCI clock to 33.3mhz.

After that, you should set the memory divider to 166 as you said. 166 or DDR333 are the same thing, so use whatever your BIOS says. This will run your Ram at 83% of the stock speed, but since you're adding about 20 FSB, well, it'll come out to about DDR400 speeds.

Reduce the LDT multiplier to 4x or 800mz (depending on what format your BIOS uses) if you plan on overclocking more than 205mhz or so.

Set your FSB up to 210. And boot. If it works, great, shove the FSB up a bit. If it doesn't boot... come back here

um...i have no pci lock "async" setting. i do have htt speed, multiplyer, cpu multiplyer, ram settings, but no "devider"...
i have pci and pci e speed settings, but no"lock" setting.ram to 166,raising htt 220 or 240?.should i use 220x11 or 240 x10? lower hht to x4 right? i can set pci and pci e speed but no "lock" is this dangerous? ( or is setting speed the "lock")

have a look in my sig. while it's for the dfi nf4 boards, all bioses are relatively similar... just gotta do a little bit of interpreting :D

k...got 220 x11,x3 hht,166 ram clock (cpuz shows at 172?? so, couldnt i leave ram clock at 200 and itd go up to 206?
cpu temp eversest home shows 40c in windows desktop, nothing much going on
hmmm, seem kinda warm, id proly go over 50c under load huh?...what gives? 200 isnt alot

Ok you said you had a PCI and a PCIe setting? Set the PCI to 33 and the PCIe setting to 100.

Yeah, when you run the ram at 166, and raise your FSB your ram should be running faster than 166 (as you said, 172). If you left your Ram speed at 200 (not 166) it would actually be running at 220. The Ram speed is equal to your FSB speed. The 166 divider runs your ram at 83% of your current FSB (83% of 220 = 172).

About your temperature, hows your case ventilation?

a few vents...one 120 mm in front blowing in, 120mm in rear sucking out, and a side fan sucking out
this is proper yah?

sorry to x2 post but..my cpu temp is 39c at stock settings and 40-43 oc'd 200 mhz..this seems warm even at stock
disabling smart fan(turns rpm down until 50c+) doesnt lower it either

no vcore chang with this mob( its my first and boy i regret getting this mob....all the ocing setting except, no voltage changing. seems wakky

Are you using the thermal pad that came with the HSF or some Arctic Silver/ comparable TIM material.

As a rule of thumb, your case temps will decrease if you were to cut out the grills that cover your fans. They block like 50% of the airflow. Just put on a good wire grill or something.

stock 4400 heatsink (really cool ,actually ,with the pipes and big fat hs)comes with a sticky thrmal pad(ie: no paste)

Yeah, a good thin coat of AS5 should lower your temps some. Maybe 5'c.

The thermal pad is a GOOD pad, but it's way too thick to be of any real use.

I'm wondering how to do this almost exactly.

AM2 4400+
ASUS M2N32-SLI
Corsair DDR2-800 (5-4-4-12)

I wanna up it so I'm running at 2.4Ghz on each core. Also, I'm hoping my memory can go to 400Mhz from the 367Mhz it's at currently. It's currently at 41C idling with AS5 in a hot room, but considering it can go up to 70C, I'm not really worried.

Any help? I'm completely new and I didn't want to start a new thread.

Thin, with the RAM and CPU you have, just try setting your HTT (FSB) to 210.

I'm sure your components can handle it. If not PM me.
