I just went to my parents' computer and I went to open up a program on a CD-ROM and the D: Drive didn't show up on My Computer. We have Windows XP. I already tried updating the drivers, scan for hardware changes. I looked it up on Device Manager and it said it was disabled. So I enabled it but the computer said that it was unable to enable the device. I have already checked the connections inside the computer and it is fine.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!

Slight chance its dead - but that's not a normal plight for optical drives. . . I'd say switch IDE cables and make sure that's not the problem (good chance), and double checking power and IDE connection security (just check again and make sure they're not unplugged or loose).

Depending on those findings it could be: loose cable, bad cable, low PSU power for components, bad mobo IDE slot, disabled slot in the BIOS, dead CDrom.

I'm pretty sure it isn't the PSU because it all looks good and the drive still ejects just fine. The PSU should be giving enough power because it is a relatively new HP OEM. Anyways, Thanks for the help!
