Help! No Catylst Drivers will install!

All catylst drivers for my system keep popping up "failed to load detection drivers" and then quit! I have the right install for my system! Everything should work!

I'm running vista 64 bit
HD 4870

I just unistalled 8.9 in windows
configured windows to boot in safe mode
booted in safe mode
ran driver cleaner
tried to install 8.9/8.10 versions of catylst (I've tried both versions of each, runnind dd/ccc in seperate orders, and both the single part and full installs of each versions)

Please help! What can I do to make catylst install work?! Did I do wrong in running the driver cleaner? What's the matter here!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::eek::eek::mad::mad:
 
1. Remove all of the drivers with "ATI" using DriverCleaner.net
2. Delete any ATI registry keys
3. Reboot and try to install the driver only, NOT the catalyst.
4. If that doesn't work, try to uninstall your video card from device manager and see if Windows can detect the driver.
 
just out of curiosity, u did boot back into normal mode after you were done with safe mode, right?
