Help newbie, new setup won't post

Set up everything, power on, fans running, but no post, monitor says no signal,

Stripped down to barebones, mobo (onboard video), cpu, memory, monitor, powered on, still fanns running, no signal.

I don't have a case speaker so I don't know the codes, I only have a wireless keyboard, the barebone would still post, wouldn't it? I know the monitor is fine, can accept input from my laptop.

Reinstalled memory and CPU, same syndrome, what should I do? Everything is new.
 
I have Asus P5Q-EM, E8400, patriot DDR2 800MHz 2X2GB RAM, I guess one of these is not functional, who is the most likely culprit? they are all new.
 
try with one stick of ram, in one slot. turn it on, see if it posts,
do the same for all four slots.
 
Don't know how well it adapts now, but a few yrs ago, after I reseated all my cards and still couldn't get a POST, I pulled the CMOS batt, let it cycle, and everything was fine from then on in.

thats true also, i can do that with my MIIF. forgot about it.

Thanks for suggestions, still no luck
tested cmos battery, it's fine 3V, reset it, reset cmos jumper, tested on stick of memory in all 4 slots, nothing, sigh
 
It's weird a small case speaker replacement that comes with the case does not work, it's just like this one

I connected it, but there are no beeps... I got a couple of these little speakers, none of them work...
 
does your mobo give failure codes? some will give a hexadec LED display of an error code or a beep patten to help determine the source of the problem

I know, there are no leds, there are beep codes, but my case does not have a speaker, it comes with a small speaker replacement which I posted image above, that thing does not work, it's weird I got two of those, but both do not work, I hear no sound darn it.
 
check to make sure all your power headers have leads running to em.

aside from that I'm calling a bad mobo.
 
What PSU are you using?
Did you try the PSU paperclip trick?
Do you have another PSU you could try?
No error beeps even after reseating CPU/RAM means its not even detecting the CPU. Is the 12V 4-pin CPU power connected?
What model RAM is that?
Pull the RAM and Vidcard and listen for error beeps with those small speakers attached. Check polarity on them, too (make sure red is plugged into the positive lead and black in the negative).
Otherwise, I agree with Mr.Wizard.
 
Thanks guys, I didn't plug in the 4 pin CPU power, thought it was for video card, now problem solved.
