HELP, new HD, not recognized.

Sorry if I am asking help for such an easy thing as installing a HD. But Ive had bad experiences in the past, wiping everything, messing with my hardrives. Even included a pic, because im so ignorant.

Ok, so currently I have a raid mirror array with two 80gb, (currently plugged into the RED BOX)

I purchased this seagate barracuda, SATA. Hooked up the sata cables and plugged it into one of the black sata ports (white box) on my mobo.

I then restarted my cpu,goes to Windows Xp. I click on my computer, but only my raid is showing up. Cant get it to locate the new hd. So I brought out my floppy drive with my raid drivers on it, since windows doesnt recognize it. I pointed it to the floppy drive> winXP folder, device manager tried to search, but came up with nothing.
What do I need to do to get the HD recognized in windows. Its showing up in BIOS.
 
you have two different SATA controllers:

1. VIA integrated
2. Promise SATA378

Does the BIOS see your drive? - if not, you may need to activate the port (watch the boot order)
Do you have any "unknown devices" in your device manager?
 
bios sees it. The A8v logo shows, then it scans, and shows me the new drive i just connected. Then scans again for my raid array, shows me that. Then boots to windows.

Device manager shows me the yellow question mark for sata controller. I tried to tell it to get the driver from my floppy, but its not working.

Also checked disk managment, not showing up.
 
you need the correct driver for the sata controller. There are TWO different controllers. I strongly suggest that you have a look at the Asus webpage, go to the downloads section and get the VIA and promise drivers. One of them will fit.
