I need help...I just added 5 new components to my systems. My systems does not seem any faster then the one I replaced. I had a AMD 64 3400 with 1 gig ram...The below items are what I added. I kept my current hard drives.. Windows is running on a 300 gb maxtor with 16mb cache...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 1GHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - Retail

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

eVGA 256-P2-N515-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Desktop PC - Retail

CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

Zalman 9500 cpu fan...

OCZ 520 power supply..

Any suggestions as to why this systems is not running any faster...Do I need to format my harddrives and start over...Is there a driver that I down load from AMD to get this baby going...
 
Well the format may help..I would say run some apps that you used before..and see if they have spead up any..play some games that ran slow or seem slow to you before..I think with the new hardware things should run better.

Thanks for the replys...I thought that media player 10 and other applications would load faster...I played Bf2 and it seems a little more stable. I guess I was expecting "jaw dropping speed"...
 
Format the System trust me it will Help. Always Recommended when getting NEW Parts

application load time has everything to do with harddrive speed and less with other components.

i got a 2x 10k scsi (latest generation fujitsu) in raid 0 and load times are awesome
