Ok, so I work with a debt consolidating company. We have about 300+ users, and som of the issues I get are network issues from random users. The issue is that there is a lost in connection and they are completely disconnected from the network. I look at the port number labeled at their cubicle and check the switch they are connected too and this is what I see on the switch. Which by the way is a dell PowerConnect 3548 switch.

After removing from those ports and placing the patch cable into another port it works normally. But after a few days this issue returns only to find it with a different user. Any ideas on what it could be?.

What does the switch's management software say? Are the ports in question throwing a lot of errors?

Can you swap in a new switch?

Jay_oasis: Cables are cat 6 and are ran between 15ft to about 100ft.

Staticlag: we have about four server rooms and only two server rooms seem to be getting this issue. I have not checked the management software and our system admin has yet to swap out a switch. I was just curious to know what could be done to see this issue through. I am new to the field and I wanted some info about this problem.

How long has this system been in place before it started throwing errors?

The first thing that comes to mind is faulty keystone wiring, but if that isn't the case then it might be just the switch ports going out.

How is ventilation to the switches? They might be overheating.

Are the wires/switch rooms next to any major sources of interference? High voltage lines? Transmitters?

I'd guess the light pattern means something, but I'm not a Dell switch guy (HP 4 Lyfe!!11one)

My guess would be either some sort of STP error, or it's potentially marked the cable as failing a test or generating too many Tx/Rx errors.
