Help: Netgear WN2000RPT Wireless Network Range Extender

I recently purchased this network range extender for my house. Upon going through the set up wizard the last step asked me to confirm that I could connect to the extender. After putting in the passphrase and clicking connect, it tells me that the passphrase is wrong. It is set to WEP 64bit (cannot change this) and uses the same information as my wireless network itself. I know im not entering an incorrect passphrase because it clearly shows me what the passphrase is at the end of the set up wizard. I looked for some troubleshooting from the Netgear website and in the manual but it just says that the extender is outside the network range, which is not true as ive moved it around to different spots and it gives me the same error. Any ideas? Thank you.
