Help Needed!

First of all I would just like to say that I'm new to [H]ard Forum...and it rawks!

I am currently using a pc with the following specs:

Amd X2 3800+
MSI 7800 GT
Asus Mb that comes in that silvery box with the purple writing on it..=P...its new...i can't recall its exact model number...

anway....my hardware is housed in Asus Vento 3600 casing which is too big....
i have currently getting temps of 38 - 40 C.....when its idle....
I was thinking of getting some regular casing*smaller* and modding it up...
would i be able to achieve lower temps simply by air cooling and blow holes or would i need to do more?

What do you want lower temps for? Are you planning to overclock? If not, those temps are fine.

I never said I wanted lower temps..I just don't like the size of the casing so I want to change it but mantain the same temp.

Grab a smaller case that uses 92mm or 120mm fans and go from there. Those temps are perfectly fine as they are but if you want to get them lower try to find an inverted atx case with an intake/exhaust fan that is inline with the cpu heatsink.

Smaller cases sometimes get better temps; the ambient temp in my Micro Fly is only 28 degrees celcius, and it is about 25 degrees in the room I am in...

That's what I was referring to. I don't understand what your asking though. What do you need help with - choosing a new case?

Also, I'm somewhat new here myself, but WELCOME!

I think the first thing you should do is choose the new case and then see what the temps are. Like Synaps said, you may even get better temps/
