Here are the aspects worth nothing in my system:
Asus P4P800-E Deluxe mobo
Intel P4 3.0E cpu
2x512mb Kingston PC3200 ValueRam, 2x256mb Samsung PC3200 in dual channel
ATi x800 Pro
The problems:
First problem: About a week ago I added the two Kingston sticks of ram and the x800 pro. Before I was just running the Samsung ram and a GF4 video card. Anyways, since I've added the new ram and video card, my ram is running only at 320mhz. I've tested the machine with only both the new ram, and the old ram, and when I do that I'm able to run at 400mhz. The system is configured in dual channel mode and I've swapped the order of the ram as well. It seems like the ram doesn't get along with eachother and it's reverting to the safe 320mhz setting.
Is there anyway to get the ram to run properly without having to force it into 400mhz mode in the BIOS? Or is the conflict the result of having different size, different manufacturer, and possibly different cas latency ram?
Second problem: The BIOS on my rig is by AMI and after I put the x800 pro in, it has decided it wants to be orange, teal, black, and white. If I load the default bios settings, the colors on the bios will revert to the original, default colors. I called up ATi and talked to their tech support and they said it could be a bad card, but to test it in another rig. So I tested the card in my other rig (P4 1.5 on ABIT TH-7 RAID mobo with 512 PC800) and the bios appeared normal in there, so the video card shouldn't be bad. There aren't any BIOS updates out for my board and my AGP slot shouldn't be damaged because I put the GF4 back in and the colors were proper again. Any ideas?
