im using a celery 400 mhz for a sience fare, and i was planning on useing the bios to check tems(project is a bong cooler). enywhay, i start up the comp, go into the bios(windows is screwed btw, so no chance of that working) and i cant find a temp read out. its an old bios(not modern alyout, it has for windows you tab between and then lists pop up). enywhay, what i need to do is find a whay to get the temps on this with its stock hsf and with the wc set up.. whats a nerd to do?

older bioses didnt have temp features on them. try using speedfan or something like that.

If theres no temp in the bios, then chances are the board doesn't have a hardware monitoring chip so there is no form of hardware monitoring, what motherboard are you using and how old is it ?

On something that old, I seriously doubt the motherboard has a temp monitor. You might want to buy a thermal probe to find out how hot it's running.

Yea, your going to definately have to get yourself a temp probe.

a)a) learn to write
b) temp probes are a fairly recent inclusion to hardware.
SPELL CHECKING!!!!

BTW: Whats with all the "spell checking flamers" lately? Seems more people are worried about spelling than the thread issue.

You forgot to use a apostraphy after "What's :rolleyes:

Cheers,

Edit: Oh, forgot to answer your question here you may need one of these. CompuNurse

screw that, just use a meat thermometer on the HS, that will be pretty damn accurate.

HAHA, thats a good one. Its not going to give you anything accurate as a reading, because the heat is partially radiated away from the core. You could guesstamate but you could just do that by touching it.

owe = Not hot

Ouch = Kinda hot

Holy Crap = Hot

SHIT = Very Hot

Hospital visit for burns = Shouldn't have touched it hot.

Cheers,

but i also need to get the temp on the watercooled job...

and i have a form of axedilsia(dislexia) which fucks up my spelling, so give me a brake(btw, my spelling was a hell of alot worse a year ago)
