help my mouse doesn't work anymore after oc!!!!!!!!!!

with the system specs in my sig, I tried to up the fsb by 20 using the nvidia system utility. As soon as I did that, my mouse icon just went crazy on me and disappeared. I tried restarting like a million times, system restore, using a different mouse, shutting down, praying, loading fail-safe on my bios, and using windows safe mode. NOTHING WORKS!!!!!!!!! if any of you might know a solution please help!!!!!!!!!1
 
I'm assuming you tried overclocking your video card? If so, try using another video card.

its impossible to overclock a front side bus through nvidia system utility, 1 the nvidia sytem utitilty overclocks video cards, and 2 video cards dont have a front side bus, but the agp bus connects to the front side bus
 
Does he have an Nvidia chipset on his motherboard? That could be what he's talking about.

Try using a USB mouse. See if that helps.
 
I oc'd the hypertransport ling from 804 to 820, clicked ok, and then click ok to this is for current session only, and then the mouse went crazy. nforce 250gb is my chipset so it should be supported. after reading some stuff, does this utility access the bios? if so did I ruin my motherboard? cause I can access my bios just fine. i'm really stressed now

wrong, please find out what nvidia system utility is.

Also I suggest only overclocking through the BIOS.
 
Yea stick to the bios. I had Abit's WinFlash program kill a mobo awhile back lol

lol, try these things in order
1.USB mouse, it should work, if not then its not the problem with the mouse port.
2.device manager and see if anything is installed under mice, if not, roll back or try to find a generic driver.
3. if u have another hdd install windows on it and see if the mouse works when its on welcome screen..

4. if u are reading this, then your mobo is fucked. kthxbie
 
This would happen if I tried to overclock my X800XTPE. Mouse wouldn't work and onboard sound shut off. I had to learn how to use the keyboard to run drivercleaner and then reinstall the video card driver. That fixed that.

Using the keyboard try to uninstall the graphics card driver and then reinstall them.

If that doesn't work you'll have to do a full install of WinXP.
 
Sorry, but bios wont fix his problem, neither will another mouse, etc etc.


I made that mistake by changing the speed from 804 down to an even 800mhz on my rig (listed in sig)

At first I thought it was a windows issue, but since I dual-boot into 'nix, I tried that to confirm. Mouse still fubar'd in another OS.


The only thing that worked was:

Reset the CMOS and reboot. Problem solved.


Steps attempted:
1. Load failsafe mode in BIOS
2. Underclock memory to 100mhz (whatever is lowest on the board)
3. Disabled cache
4. installed USB mouse (mine is a PS/2)
5. Flashed to stock BIOS

5. Reset CMOS.. blammo normal mouse.

you know, whats funny is that I had this problem after the OP. The search function didnt throw up this thread. At least I would not have felt alone :p
 
#1 rule of overclocking, never oc in windows if you don't have to. The bios is the first place you should go
